For Immediate Release Boltz Sewage Project Receives $2.5 Million in FundingNew treatment plant will also serve Robindale Heights An Indiana County sewage project aimed at eliminating raw sewage discharges into local waterways received $2.5 million in state funding today, according to state Senator Don White and state Representative Dave Reed. The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) approved a $2,539,500 low-interest loan for the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority (ICMSA) for water system improvements in and near the Village of Boltz in East Wheatfield Township, according to Senator White, a member of the PENNVEST Board. "I was pleased to support this project when it came before the PENNVEST board for consideration," said Senator White. "This loan enables the ICMSA to move forward on this project and eases the financial burden on ratepayers. This new sewer plant and other improvements will enhance the quality of life for residents living in and around Boltz and Robindale Heights. This project, along with the expansion of Route 22 which wraps up tomorrow, will further enhance southern Indiana County's attractiveness for economic development and job creation." The ICMSA will use the loan to construct a new 35,000 gallon-per-day sewage treatment plant and pump station and install 9,000 feet of 8-inch sewer lines and 7,000 feet of forced main to serve Boltz in East Wheatfield Township and replace a deteriorated treatment plant serving the Village of Robindale Heights. "This project has significant importance for local residents and for the environment," said Representative Reed. "This funding will enable the ICMSA to expedite this project and ultimately eliminate wildcat sewers in the area that are discharging raw sewage into tributaries of the Conemaugh River."
