For Immediate Release Plumville Water Project Receives $3.4 Million in FundingPENNVEST also provides financing for work in Aultman, Coral A major Indiana County infrastructure project yesterday (July 20) received approval for nearly $3.5 million in state funding, according to state Senator Don White and state Representative Sam Smith. The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) approved $3.48 in funding for the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority (ICMSA) for water system improvements in and near Plumville Borough, according to Senator White, a member of the PENNVEST Board. "I was pleased to support this vitally important proposal when it came before the PENNVEST board for consideration," said Senator White. "These funds will enable the ICMSA to move forward on a project that will correct serious public health issues facing residents living in and around Plumville while further increasing Indiana County's attractiveness for economic development and job creation. Just as important, thanks to the PENNVEST funding, the improvements will be made with the least possible financial burden to the ratepayers." The Plumville water system project involves construction of a new well, a 220,000-gallon water storage tank and the installation of 40,000 feet of water service lines in the borough. More than half of the private wells in the area are contaminated with fecal coliform and/or gasoline. "The contamination problems experienced by local residents clearly represent a health hazard that must be corrected as soon as possible," said Representative Smith. "The PENNVEST funding will enable the ICMSA to expedite this important project that will provide clean and safe drinking water to those homes." The PENNVEST board also approved two other Indiana County projects at its meeting:
