Growing Greener, Flood Grants Applications Now Accepted
Requests will be taken by the DEP until July 17
Applications for state funding for watershed protection and
restoration and flood protection projects will be accepted until July 17,
according to Senator Don White (R-41).
The Department of Environmental Protection is providing funding
for those projects under the Growing Greener program and flood protection grant
program.
Eligible applicants include counties, authorities and other
municipalities; county conservation districts; councils of governments;
watershed organizations recognized by the department that promote local
watershed conservation efforts; and other authorized organizations involved in
the restoration and protection of the environment in Pennsylvania.
"I urge local governments and other eligible groups to submit
their requests for this funding," Senator White said. "This is an opportunity
for our region to address some of the serious water quality and flooding issues
that we face."
DEP has identified projects that protect watersheds from
impairment due to nonpoint source pollution or that will restore damaged
waterways as the primary focus for the current round of Growing Greener funding.
The flood protection grants focus on funding similar projects to
Growing Greener but with special emphasis within targeted watersheds.
