Committee to Consider Health Insurance Bills, Hold Hearing on Long-Term Care Partnership Program

The Senate Banking and Insurance Committee will meet Tuesday, May 5, to consider two health care-related bills and hold a public hearing on the Long-Term Care (LTC) Partnership Program, according to Committee Chairman Senator Don White (R-41).

During the meeting set for 10 a.m. in Room 461 of the Main Capitol, the Committee will consider the following:

House Bill 84 (DeLuca) – Establishes a system for nonpayment for preventable serious adverse events.

House Bill 1089 (Matzie) – Extends the COBRA guidelines to group plans provided by employers that employ 2-19 employees.

The Committee will also hold a public hearing to receive an update on the LTC Partnership Program. Act 40 of 2007 created the program which provides a financial incentive for individuals to buy LTC insurance.
