For Immediate Release Mahoning Township Receives $1 Million in State FundingPENNVEST money for sewer upgrade in Village of SeminoleMahoning Township, Armstrong County, today (October 27) received approval for state funding totaling $1,085,122, according to state Senator Don White (R-41). The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) approved at its meeting today a low-interest loan for the township to upgrade its sewer service in the Village of Seminole, according to Senator White, a member of the PENNVEST Board. Mahoning Township plans to install 10,000 feet of sanitary sewer line adding 65 additional homes to the existing system, which currently serves 265 residences. Currently, the Village of Seminole is served by a wildcat sewer system that is discharging untreated sewage into Mahoning Creek. "This loan will allow Mahoning Township to address a problem that is being watched by the state Department of Environmental Protection," said Senator White. "This new system will address the contamination problem and eliminate the hazards to public health and recreation that it creates." Contact: Noel Burch
