Indian Springs complex receives $750,000 grant

State money for customizing space to attract tenants, create jobs

Senator Don White announced today (March 14) that the Indiana County Commissioners, on behalf of the Indiana County Development Corporation, will receive a $750,000 state grant toward the construction of the Indian Springs multi-tenant facility. The 62,000 square-foot facility is currently under construction and is expected to be ready for occupancy by mid -April.

"I am very pleased that the state is providing this important investment to continue our efforts to promote economic and business development and job growth in Indiana County," Senator White said. "We have been fortunate to receive a significant amount of state funding for this project, which we expect will begin paying important dividends soon as tenants begin moving in and setting up shop."

The multi-tenant facility is a nearly $8.2 million three-story building owned and operated by the Indiana County Development Corporation (ICDC).  In 2002, Senator White secured $1.25 million toward the facility's construction.

The recently-awarded $750,000 will allow the ICDC to construct the facility to customize spaces for prospective tenants. When completed, this facility is expected to have three tenants providing approximately 40 jobs initially and an additional 50 to 60 jobs over the next several years.  The remaining tenant spaces will be marketed for new prospects to locate in Indiana County.

"This facility is designed to meet a critical need for ready-to-go advanced light manufacturing and technology oriented space in Indiana County," Senator White said. "There is already significant interest in this facility, which hopefully will generate and attract additional spin-off businesses in the future."

This is the fourth Capital Budget grant announced by Senator White for Indiana County.  Other grantees include $500,000 for the Women's Health Center at the Indiana Regional Medical Center and $1.5 million for the multi-tenant facility at the Corporate Campus in Burrell Township.  The Corporate Campus facility consists of approximately 26,000 square feet and is currently the home of Dietrich Metal Framing, a division of Worthington Industries.  As a direct result of the project, Dietrich retained approximately 52 existing employees and plans to create approximately 20 new jobs over the next several years.
