Senator White Presents $600k to IRMC

Breast cancer center, information technology receive support

State Senator Don White today presented $600,000 in state grants to the Indiana Regional Medical Center to support its new breast cancer center and to upgrade the hospital's information technology system.

Senator White announced the grants during the opening of the M. Dorcas Clark Center at IRMC. During a ceremony at IRMC, Senator White presented a $500,000 check to support the new facility.

"Breast cancer affects more Pennsylvania women than any other type of cancer and it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women in our state," Senator White said. "The key to preventing those deaths is early diagnosis. I am pleased to help secure this money for the Indiana Regional Medical Center and assist it in this battle to save lives."

He also presented a $100,000 to IRMC to develop an information technology strategic plan.

"That also is an important step for the hospital. Today's new technology offers so many alternatives and options for health care professionals to find the optimum methods of diagnosis and treatment," Senator White said. "That information technology will go hand-in-hand with the new resources that are available through the M. Dorcas Clark Center to help improve and save lives."
