For Immediate Release Kittanning Receives $1.9 Million Grant/LoanFunds to upgrade municipal sewer service The Kittanning Borough Municipal Authority will receive $1.9 million in state financing to cover the costs of a needed upgrade for a section of its system, according to Senator Don White, R-41st District. The Authority will receive a $772,548 grant and a $1,217,452 low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for a project to separate sections of line now used for both sanitary and storm sewer service, according to Senator White, a member of the PENNVEST Board. The PENNVEST funding will allow the Authority to install 4,200 feet of sanitary sewer lines and 944 feet of storm sewer lines. State Representative Jeff Pyle, R-6oth District, also hailed the PENNVEST announcement. "This is an important project for the community," said Representative Pyle. "As it stands now, the dual-usage of the lines for sanitary sewers and storm sewers creates a potential public health issue. Once completed, this project will allow for the proper disposal of the materials and eliminate potential health hazards that could arise through a release of untreated wastewater."
